Welcome to the John Harvard’s Brew House “Brewer’s Corner”, a great way to provide information and entertain everyone with the inner workings of the brew house. FIRST SIP

In December we launched our first of the Limited Edition Cask Series. It went so well that we have given it an official name and will do this every month. On the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., we will tap into a special cask. Taking a regular beer and serving it on cask always releases new and interesting flavors. Once a month our brewer steps it up even more by doing something unique to just one keg of this style of beer. Be sure to get it while it lasts.

This month we will introduce an Oatmeal Stout with Molasses and Raisins

Our Oatmeal Stout was kegged and two cups of molasses and 1-1/2 pounds of raisins were then added directly to the keg. The additional sugars created a secondary fermentation in the keg that provides a small amount of natural carbonation. The final product is reminiscent of an oatmeal cookie without the crumbs, and you don’t need milk since you can drink it too!

The new mugs are all in place for Mug Club renewal time. We are currently working through the waiting list to add new members and have been able to add more than in years past. If you don’t get a call, don’t worry, there is always next year. As of now our list is over 2 years long, and we thank you for your support.

HALF GLASS

Currently on tap as usual is the Harvard Light and our Flagship John Harvard’s Pale Ale. In addition to these standard offerings, we have a nicely balanced Amber Ale, two dark libations with our Oatmeal Stout and Scottish Ale, a very hoppy unfiltered IPA, and two beers of winter, Snow White (a tart version of a Belgian White ale) and our Winter Ale flavored with peppermint and spearmint! As always, cask beers and special spiced offerings are limited in quantity so get it while you can.

THE FINISHING GULP

Upcoming beers for the remainder of January and going into February will include C-3PO Golden Ale, the return of Angry Chewbacca, and three beers names after RUSH songs, Red Barchetta, YYZ Brown Ale, and Moving Pictures IPA.
